My love for reading began as a child.  Growing up in the 1900’s, my sister and I wrote the earliest forms of fan fiction in our bedroom with Barbie dolls.  Fueled by stories from library books, we crafted elaborate stories for our toys.  Reading fueled our stories.  I don’t just read books, I engage with the stories.  The choose-your-own-adventure stories were some of my favorites.  I read every ending multiple times.  Sometimes, I constructed my own endings to take the story to the next level.

I have a tendency to take things to the next level.  When I read Dracula, I stayed up all night to finish that book.  I call it the book binge. The book binge is an entire weekend dedicated to a novel.  I know that novels are long and meant to be read in pieces.  It’s just that I get involved in the story and I read to the end.  That usually means that I read during dinner and during the football game and while other people are doing the dishes because I’m still reading.  I lose track of time and keep reading.

I need help.

2024 found me in over my head writing a novel.  I published it January 30.  You can read more about it here

Faye, a young math teacher, uses art to help her cope with the stress of life. The stress dials up when her mentor, Don Ambrose, is found beaten and left for dead.

Her latest works begin to eerily resemble the details of an unsolved murder from decades ago, her private escape becomes a chilling connection to a crime she doesn’t remember knowing.

As the two teachers uncover links between Faye’s subconscious visions and Don’s search for justice, they are drawn into a dangerous web of secrets buried in their small town.

Together, they must confront a chilling truth: someone will stop at nothing to keep the past hidden.
