Embracing the Pasta Effect in Daily Projects

The Challenge is in full swing now. My list of things to do has what I like to call the pasta effect. Every once in a while, I enjoy eating pasta. Sometimes, however, the pasta seems to grow as I eat it. The more I eat, the more see on the plate. I call this the pasta effect: when get into a project and it grows in magnitude as you start working. My November list started growing the moment I sat at my desk.

Lesson One: Commit your plans to the Lord (Proverbs 16:3)

I made a commitment to meet on zoom daily at 1:00 pm EST. I understand that not everyone can make it at that time. It does, however, force me to be at my desk every day at that time. Once seated, I decided to open my work in prayer. It’s almost like starting each session with a business meeting.

Lesson Two: Allow the Lord to conduct business through you.

Monday started off on the wrong foot so to speak. My computer responded slowly to my instructions. I hoped to do a few fixes to make it better, but it didn’t. So, I searched for a new one. My plan was to open a new credit card and pay for it monthly. I stopped myself, and asked my boss what I should do. I felt prompted to order the computer. Then, someone showed up with cash to pay for it. I am typing this from my new desktop.

Lesson Three: Develop a heart of Gratitude

On Monday, I celebrated my birthday. I got to see family and friends. There were some surprises, too. I asked God to give me a heart of gratitude, and boy did He give. I feel like I’ve been crying all week. My new computer arrived just in time yesterday. It’s YELLOW!!! My favorite color. Not only did God provide a machine for me to continue work, He gave me one specially designed for me.

While I’m still working on completing the task from three days ago, I’ve made so much progress. I feel confident that the work will be what God has planned. I also feel confident that I can do it the way He requires. I’m busy without the stress. I’m thankful, and I’m working with Him the whole time.
